Cable Label Export

The cable label export generates a CSV file containing every cable in your project — data jumpers, power runs, trunk connections, and backup cables — each with a label, source, destination, and estimated length where available. This feature is available on the Pro plan and above.

Accessing Export

Go to File > Export Cable Labels CSV in the toolbar (or the native menu in the desktop app). The export dialog lets you choose which cable types to include before generating the file.

Cable Type Toggles

Each cable type can be independently enabled or disabled. Use the All / None buttons to quickly toggle everything.

Cable TypeDescription
Data First CablesConnection from the switch port (or direct processor output) to the first panel in each data string
Data JumpersPanel-to-panel data cables within a string
Power First CablesConnection from the power distro to the first panel in each power circuit
Power CablesPanel-to-panel power cables within a circuit
Trunk CablesFiber/copper connections between processors and switches
Backup Data CablesRedundant data connections (when loop redundancy is configured)
Backup Trunk CablesRedundant trunk connections from backup processors (tier 3 redundancy)

All cable types are enabled by default. A live count of total cables updates as you toggle options.

CSV Columns

The exported CSV contains one row per cable with the following columns:

ColumnDescriptionExample
ScreenScreen the cable belongs toMain Wall
TypeCable typeData Jumper, Power, Trunk
LabelChain/group label for the cableA1, C3, B
FromSource end of the cableSwitch A / Port 1, Panel (2,3)
ToDestination end of the cablePanel (1,1), Switch B
Length (m)Estimated length in meters (blank if unknown)0.52

Labels

Cable labels identify which chain or group the cable belongs to:

  • Data cables use the port label from the string assignment (e.g., A1, B3, or 1A for Novastar schemes)
  • Power cables use the circuit label from the power distribution config (e.g., C1 for single mode, M1.3 for multi-connector mode)
  • Trunk cables use the trunk port letter (e.g., A, B). In multi-processor setups, a processor index prefix is added (e.g., 1:A, 2:B)
  • Backup cables use the backup port label as shown in the string assignment UI

Source & Destination

The From and To columns describe both ends of each cable:

  • Panels are identified by grid position: Panel (X,Y) where X is column and Y is row (both 1-indexed)
  • Processors use the processor canvas name: Processor 1 / Port A
  • Switches use the trunk letter: Switch A / Port 3
  • Power distro connections show Distro as the source

Cable Lengths

Estimated lengths are provided for panel-to-panel cables (both data jumpers and power cables) based on the physical distance between panel centers in the 2D layout. Lengths are shown in meters with two decimal places.

First cables (switch-to-panel and distro-to-panel) and trunk cables do not have length estimates since their routing depends on the physical installation.

Intended Use

The CSV is designed for generating physical cable labels — two labels per cable, one for each end. Import the CSV into a label printer template or spreadsheet to produce adhesive labels for every cable in your installation.
