Media Sources

LED.FYI supports several types of media sources for surface content. Each surface can independently use a different source type.

Video Files

Upload video files directly to use as surface content.

  • Supported formats — Common video formats (MP4, WebM, etc.)
  • Playback controls — Play, pause, loop, and volume
  • Scale modes — Fit, fill, stretch, or 1:1 native display
  • File size limits — Files are validated for size before upload

Video Playback

When a video is loaded:

  1. Use the play/pause button to control playback
  2. Enable loop for continuous playback
  3. Adjust volume as needed (mute available)
  4. The video renders in real-time on the surface and all views showing that surface

Image Files

Upload static images as surface content.

  • Supported formats — Common image formats (PNG, JPEG, WebP, etc.)
  • Scale modes — Same options as video (fit, fill, stretch, 1:1)
  • File size validation — Images are checked for size compatibility

YouTube URLs

Some surfaces support YouTube URLs as a video source, allowing you to preview content from YouTube directly on your LED wall simulation.

Logo Overlay

Any surface can have an additional logo overlay on top of its primary content:

  • Upload a logo — Supports common image formats
  • Position — Center, top-left, top-right, bottom-left, or bottom-right
  • Scale — Adjust the logo size relative to the surface

This is useful for client presentations where you want to show their branding on the LED wall preview.

No Source

Setting a surface to "No Source" makes it transparent/blank. The surface instance still takes up space on the output but renders nothing. This is useful as a placeholder or when you want to define a surface area without content.
